“Many valuable results are not in the scorebook”

All sports teach the participants certain lessons of life as well as providing insight into themselves as a person. Athletes in both team and individual sports must understand the importance of hard work, commitment, persistence, and skill-building. The fluency of the sport and results are also important but there are certain “non-measurables” that EVERY athlete and ballplayer should realize and experience!

1. Be concerned with sportsmanship FIRST.
2. Learn that individual sports are still team efforts.
3. Have been an underdog; have been a favorite.
4. Wonder why sport can not replace war.
5. Cry during the national anthem.
6. Enjoy just picking up the ball.
7. Know there is NO gain without pain.
8. Winning is not a result, it is an attitude.
9. Competing is FUN.
10. Bear in mind that the game will end but life goes on…
